Goal of teaching:

 Bible 7+8 and Bible 9+10: It is my prayer that students will desire and choose to be Jesus' disciples -- loving, compassionate, active, diplomatic, fearless, intelligent, single-minded ambassadors for His Kingdom, who will be [if necessary] faithful unto death.

Computers 9 and Computers 10 / Photography: Students will be able to demonstrate practical skills and Christian work ethics productive, dependable, honest, creative, service-minded vs. profit-minded, going the extra mile to get a job / project done right as unto the Lord.

What I like about my students

My students motivate me to think outside the box [I love it!] and compel me to acknowledge, and deal with, my character defects [Often painful, but God is working on me through them.] They ask questions and share experiences about God, the Bible and life that often I think Wow! I am so privileged to have this exclusive interview! It's almost as if I were discovering a long sought after ancient treasure.

I am: Passionate about learning, becoming the best for God and His kingdom. Creative. Diligent. Hardworking. Dependable. Compassionate. Supportive. Team player. Good listener. Peacemaker, yet willing to declare war on injustice. Decisive. Willing to invest in long-term quality. I enjoy planning and rehearsing the details -- best and worst-case scenarios. I strive for integrity in all my actions, and encourage students to be diligent, willing to take risks, ask meaningful questions, and dig and explore until discovery.

Teaching at HVCA

I really enjoy working with the HVCA staff family; we respect, pray for, and support each other. HVCA has so much potential; our creativity far exceeds our financial resources. Yet God has been our Rock in time of need, and He always touches peoples hearts to continue their support by volunteering time and energy, donating services and/or financial gifts to support our students.

My friendship with God

My goal is to walk with God the way Enoch and Noah did. I love Him with my life. I know He has guided me, miraculously protected me, and continues to strengthen me for all the new opportunities and challenges that come my way every day. I am His ambassador, willing to go wherever and whenever He sends me.

My life as Jesus' disciple

Realistically, Jesus put it best in Matthew 6 when he said In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. Because God is preparing us for eternity, we are now in boot camp being disciplined, smoothing off the rough weak character defects. Nevertheless, hope-filled.

We are just passing through this weary, worn out world. It's almost over, hallelujah! When Jesus comes [hooray] we will experience what God originally intended life to be like. Without stress, sickness, pain, death, deceit, manipulation, and greed. Best of all, we'll be able to talk face to face with Jesus, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit. Now that will be fascinating!

What I want students and parents to know about my teaching style

I have high expectations, as do the student's parents. I see myself as working for the parents to train their child to be responsible Christian citizens. I send frequent progress reports, conference with parents, dialog and empathize with parents' frustrations. I earnestly attempt to build up the parents in the student's eyes and motivate them to excellence.

Challenges in teaching

Students often only think of "now" instead of tomorrow and beyond. So although the skill(s) I am teaching and attempting to mentor will be necessary for life, because they don't bring immediate pleasure and entertainment the skills are termed boring and the students are certain they'll never need or use them. Some students even berate those who are teaching. Unfortunately, some students have no idea of how they are wasting their parents' hard-earned money. That's frustrating!

How I survive the tough times

When I'm exhausted and dream of convenience and desire for solitude and tranquility, that's when I talk to God and claim His promises listed above [and many others]. I realize that God has called me and He promised to enable me to accomplish His mission for my life and the students in my sphere of influence.
